The new edition of Screenplay Contest will be held on Saturday 21st September 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sala Cinema Intesa San Paolo of Videocittà (Ex Caserme Guido Reni).

The event-chairwoman of this edition will be BARBARA PETRONIO: Italian screenwriter, winner of the David di Donatello Award for the best original screenplay in 2017 for Indivisibili by Edoardo De Angelis. She started her career in television, scripting some of the most successful series broadcast since the early 2000s, as R.I.S. – Delitti imperfetti and Romanzo Criminale – La serie. Her feature film debut as a screenwriter is Mozzarella Stories, in collaboration with director De Angelis in 2011.

Contest

Screenplay Contest is the competition dedicated to emerging authors that proposes the development of a screenplay for a 5-minute short film to be elaborated on a track provided by the Festival on the day of the event.

Participants have 8 hours to write the script and deliver it. The best screenplay is rewarded with the realization of the project by Image Hunters, in collaboration with Rai Cinema, Laser Film, Redigital, Luxor.

The competition in previous editions was chaired by Massimo Gaudioso, Nicola Guaglianone and Filippo Gravino and welcomed 200 participants each year, hosted by MAXXI Auditorium – National Museum of Arts of the XXI century.

Thanks to Screenplay Contest, three short films have been already completed: Manhunt – produced in 2016, with Adriano Giannini and Maximilian Dirr and directed by Brando Bartoleschi – and From Another World – produced in 2017, with Emanuela Fanelli and directed by Lorenzo Di Nola. The 2018 Platani screenplay was produced by Image Hunters and the short film will be presented during the Rome Creative Contest 2019. All short films have been included in an extensive distribution program handled by Rai Cinema and Premiere Film, which includes web, pay TV, streaming TV, cinema and presentations at the most important festivals, including Cinema Italian Style, one of the most important event dedicated to Italian cinema in Hollywood.

The project of Screenplay Contest has grown and expanded thanks to the prestigious collaboration of important partners such as Rai Cinema – Laser Film – Redigital – Luxor .

Redigital and Luxor will provide the equipment and services needed to shoot the winning short film. Laser Film will also offer post-production services for a total value of € 6,000, including sound mix, conforming, color correction and finalization.
